Originally developed for The Chapel on a remote Scottish island, Pugin is an antique oak panel inspired by a Pugin altar piece in the island’s central meeting house. This bespoke Woodworks design is now available for wider specification, bringing its distinctive geometry and original patina to extraordinary projects.

The original floor was handmade in our Cheshire workshops, with carefully restored antique oak assembled into interlocking sections. Pugin retains the material character that defined that commission. Its medium tones vary naturally across the floor, giving each panel its own expression. Hand-rolled edges soften the junctions between sections and bring depth to the pattern.

Measuring 980 × 980 mm, the panel gives the design a generous architectural scale. Repeated across an interior, its geometry creates a detailed composition whose character becomes more apparent at close range.

Pugin has a 20 mm two-ply engineered construction with a nominal 6 mm antique oak wear layer. Supplied unfinished, its original patina is retained and polished by hand, with no product applied, to reveal the natural character of the timber.
