Dating back to the seventeenth century, Fortnum’s Antique French Oak carries a depth of character that made it a favourite among our makers. Rich chocolate-brown tones, dark grain and weathered markings reveal a surface shaped by centuries of use, carefully restored in our British workshops.
In chevron, the meeting lines of the 85 × 595mm blocks give this expressive timber a measured rhythm. Original patina and hand-polished undulations bring depth to the pattern, while hand-rolled edges gently define each piece. Our craftspeople devote considerable care to preserving these details, preparing the oak for continued use while retaining the evidence of its past.
Burnished Hardwax Oil Satin enriches the dark tones and gives the restored surface a subtle lustre. Each block has a 20mm, two-ply engineered construction with a nominal 4–6mm wear layer.
Fortnum Chevron is UKTR compliant and maintained using Care System 2. Complementary architectural details are available on request, allowing its distinctive tonal character to carry through the wider interior.
