Deep chocolate tones and richly weathered grain give Fortnum Diagonal 8 Tile Parquet de Versailles its distinctive presence. The framed, diagonal composition brings changing grain directions and individual timber sections into view, revealing the complexity of Antique French Oak with a history reaching back to the seventeenth century.

Fortnum became a favourite among our makers when this exceptional timber arrived in our British workshops. Its restoration calls for patient attention to the surface: original patina is preserved, undulations are polished by hand, and hand-rolled edges give gentle definition to the intricate pattern. Centuries of character remain visible in the oak’s knots, darker markings and tonal variation.

Burnished Hardwax Oil Satin enriches these dark hues with a subtle lustre. Each 980 × 980mm panel has a 20mm, two-ply engineered construction and a nominal 4–6mm wear layer, preparing the antique oak for continued use.

Complementary architectural details are available on request to carry Fortnum’s tonal depth through the interior. This floor is UKTR compliant and should be maintained using Care System 2.
